The Need

Malnutrition is rising among people hit by the ongoing drought, which has worsened over recent years. In northeastern Kenya tribes are fighting overwater supplies. In February 2006, the British charity Oxfam said people in Somalia were surviving on three glasses of water a day and trekking 70km to replenish supplies in scorching temperatures of up to 104 degrees F.

The drought remains bad today as well.

This is a race against the clock to stem the tide of human misery. The UN reports that millions of people require require food assistance.  The list of conditions in the diseases contagious from contaminated water group includes:

  • AmCholer ebic dysentery
  • Cercarial dermatitis
  • Cryptosporiosis
  • Cyclosporiasis
  • Cysticercosis
  • Dracunculiasis
  • Dysentery
  • Entamoeba Histolytica
  • Giardia
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hookworm
  • Leptospirosis
  • Melioidosis
  • Neurocysticercosis
  • Polio
  • Relapsing fever
  • Toxocariasis

Included in the DOCUMENTS section of this website is a March 22, 2009 newspaper article from Kenya titled: "Dry Five Days a Week; a Bath Every Three Months."

EVEN THOUGH IT IS A COUPLE OF YEARS OLD, THE TEXT FROM AN EMAIL

David, The Lord is impressing in my heart over what needs to be done in this nation currently. You must be obeying the Lords and and much more the CRY and the PRAYERS of several millions of Kenyans going through difficult time right NOW.

Are you aware that our country is being faced by a serious drought right now in Northern parts of Kenya and many other places since Dec 05? Over 30 people have died and 2.5 m Kenyans without water and food. The main problem is rain failure. The government has declared it a national disaster.Govt is trying to transport water to people and animals dying without water in this parts of Kenya. If there were wells in these places, we would avoid deaths of innocent Kenyans. This is the cry of many and others blaming the govt for neglect of these people being affected.

What an awesome thing you are doing with your wife. It must be a noble call to do. I sense this in my spirit right now as I do this email. Please continue obeying it the Lord will greatly reward you even if not in monetary terms. May the Lord provide all that is required to fulfill it. It's great. It will have everlasting impact here in Kenya. Hallelujah. This ought to have happened like yesreday. In some of these places where people are dying, I visited in 2004 and we had to carry enough water for ourselves. There ARE no wells, or so few ones. On the local news yesterday, a woman was captured on camera in a lorry (truck) carrying water saying that they went looking for water for the last five days and are now retuning home. Children in these places have not returned to school because of lack of water. Our governmental organizations have donated food to people but can't cook for lack of H2O.

Thank God for the heart to do this for schools churches etc and the community.  Looks like this might spread all over Kenya within a short time.

Jesus answered:
"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,
but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst."
John 4:13-14 NIV
