In January of 2006, David who is a Professional Civil Engineer with experience in the field of water well drilling in the US, went through training with Lifewater for the kind of drilling equipment that is to be used in Kenya. In Kenya, David has used the information gained through that training (and through his professional experience) to train 47 workers associated with the project many of whom had previously been hand digging water wells. Subsequently, he has been back several more times to check on the progress of this work.

It has been equally important to train the Board Members on their duties, rights and responsibilities. None of the Board Members had prior experience. Once formed, each Board wrote its own Mission Statement and with David's assistance its own Constitution (Bylaws). Like a business in the United States, this board is responsible for the work of the project ... and the workers and their leadership are subordinate to it.
